August Art

Today was the summer wrap-up in the Children’s library with a crazy project. Interesting interpretations of randomly placed cut pieces of paper (partially with eyes closed!).The artists used their imagination and created very “unusual” animals.

Use your imagination and take a look!

Have a great holiday weekend!

Good luck to all the kids heading back to school AND all the teachers! Don’t forget to stop by the library to visit us!

Story Hour and August Art

Thursday (tomorrow!), kids over 8, are invited to join us for an August Art project. We’re going to cut, paste, paint and use our imaginations to create a work in the style of Pablo Picasso – specifically Picasso dogs.

Today at toddler story hour we had a special guest reader. Thank you Mia! You did a great job captivating your young audience.

Be sure to stop by the library tomorrow to pick up a good book for the long Labor Day weekend!

The library will be closed on Monday.

Summer Wrap-up

Summer’s almost over and all kids, parents and teachers are looking forward to the beginning of a new school year (?)!

But, before we go there, let’s check out what’s been happening in the Children’s Library this past week.

Besides a lively Wednesday morning story hour, Ms. Kim’s Adventures in Wonderland ended with the Championship Chess Tournament!

Also, if you find yourself a bit bored, the Children’s Library has plenty of board games. Challenge your friends to Battleship, Candyland, Pictionary, or one of the crazier games there.

AND…Don’t forget to pick up a good book to read! If it’s not on the shelf, request it so it’s waiting for you on your next visit.

The Keen Readers Book Club selection for this month is The Ninth Hour by Alice McDermott. The club meets the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 pm. Interested in joining? Contact the library to get on the Keen Readers email list.

August already?

It sure does seem like summer is zipping by and this steamy weather we’ve been having might have you wishing for the arrival of fall. Not SO FAST!!!

Instead of rushing through the season, why not enjoy the lazy days of summer by kicking back in your lounge chair and reading a good book? There’s always a good selection of fiction and non-fiction available at the library. Come and browse the shelves, or place a request from home and wait for the call (or email).

This month’s book for the Keen Readers book club is All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker. The book club meets the second Thursday of the month, 7 p.m. at the library. New members are always welcome!

This month Ms. Kim is having the Adventure in Wonderland. Call to register and find out days and times and what’s on the agenda this week – Escape Room? Tea Party? Chess Tournament and Lawn Games?

And don’t forget about Story Hour on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Registration is not required, but you might want to let Ms. Kim know you’re coming!
