Sad News

Today, we bid farewell to a beloved member of our library community. Samuel Alloway, husband of former trustee and board president Judie Alloway, passed away on Tuesday, December 5th.

In a time of great difficulty for our library, the Alloways were our generous benefactors, giving not only their time, but also their financial support. Sammy was a co-founder of the Jade Run 5k and remained a main sponsor for the 20 years the race was held. During Judie’s tenure as a trustee, the Alloways made significant contributions to our book fund and donated furnishings to the children’s library for story and craft time. Their kindness and generosity continue to this day, and impact all who visit our library. We are forever grateful for their contributions and their unwavering support.

The Board of Trustees offers our sincerest condolences to Judie, the Alloway family, and all those who were fortunate enough to know and love Sammy. He was a vital part of the library and Southampton community and his presence will be greatly missed.

Another art show in the books!

We sold a record 22 paintings! Thank you to the artists who once again created wonderful art celebrating our town, and to everyone who came out to support them and our library. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. The Vincentown Garden Club, as always, did a great job with floral arrangements to make the library even more beautiful. And a special thank you to Nancy Gower, who not only is a wonderful artist but also a great friend of the library. She curates and arranges a beautiful show, year after year. One final thank you, to trustee Debbie Hodgson; we could not do the show without you!

And don’t forget the Brick Campaign!

Stop by the library to pick up a form or complete online.

As always thanks for your continued support!

Annual Art Exhibit & Sale

Stop by the library next Friday evening for our Annual Art Exhibit and Sale. Twenty artists will be exhibiting their work in our historic library and they’re all available for purchase! Take some time to consider your purchase while enjoying a bit of refreshment next door in the Children’s Library. Don’t take too long though, most of the beautiful works of art are sure to go quickly.

Buy a brick to save our bricks and keep the library running!

Your engraved brick will be a permanent show of your support for our building preservation and all that we do in our community. Bricks will line the library walkway and will be a lasting reminder that the library belongs to all of us.

Update: Saturday September 23, 2023

Arts in the Village has been cancelled due to the predicted tropical storm on Saturday. Since heavy rains and high winds are predicted the library has decided to also cancel the book sale.

Looking ahead, next weekend is the annual Local Art Exhibit and Sale – Hope to see you there!

Summer’s over…already

Celebrating with a Summer Blast, Ms Kim and the kids say goodbye to summer!

The older children are back to school! – It’s the perfect opportunity to bring the little ones to a Wednesday morning story hour, 10:30 am,  with Ms. Kim.

Things are happening next door at the adult library. We’re getting ready for our big project, the preservation of our library (not too late to help with our matching grant!), AND our annual Fall Art Exhibit and Sale is just around the corner. If you’ve never attended definitely try. The library looks absolutely stunning adorned with the artwork, and you just might find that perfect painting!

And don’t forget our Book Club meets the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 pm. New members always welcome!
