The K-5 halloween parade was great – weather couldn’t have been better.  Throughout the evening monsters, princesses, witches, ghosts, animals, creatures of all shapes and sizes roamed the streets of Vincentown collecting treats.  It was a perfect!

Meet on the first and third Thursdays of the month.  They will also be busy at the Historical Society’s Christmas in November event on Saturday, November 10th. (9 am-2pm)   Be sure to stop by to say hello to Marsha and Judy and pick up a few early holiday gifts.

It’s Storytime

Every Wednesday morning, 10:30 am.  Children over 2 and caregivers are invited to come enjoy stories and a craft with Mrs. King.

Toddler Time

Begins again Thursday mornings at 11 am for children up to 3 and caregivers.

November Holidays – the library will be closed

We always look forward to October at the library – another opportunity for a parade!  But we’re jumping ahead here.

Sally’s Stitchers will meet twice this month, on 10/4 & 10/18.  Some of the children’s pumpkin and candy corn hats are adorable!  Are they available in adult sizes?

Wednesday story time will have fireman, pumpkin, monster and Halloween themes!

Thursday’s Toddler Time will be held 10/4; 10/11 & 10/25 (not on 10/18).  Toddlers will be invited to join the Wednesday story time, 10/31, in their Halloween costumes.  Should be fun!

Thursday’s Story/Art/Craft will be 10/11 at 2 pm.  Kids over 4 years are invited to join us for a story and painting session.  Dress in old clothes or bring a smock.

We’ll be ready with prime seating for the annual Southampton Township School Halloween parade!  Bring your folding chair and join us.

The Children’s Library will be open for Halloween Trick or Treat.  Stop by to see us!

What’s going on at the library?

• Stitching with Sally on the first and third Thursday of the month
• Annual Art Exhibit & Sale – September 21st & 22nd

(The library will be closing at 3 pm on Thursday to get ready for our Annual Art Exhibit)

This week in story hour Mrs. King will be reading “ready for school” stories.  So many of our story time friends are moving up to Kindergarten this year.  We’re going to miss them!

Our August Arts group will meet one last time for the summer on Thursday (8/30).  This week’s project:  collage notebooks for back to school.

Stitching with Sally has a third meeting date this month!  The group meets the first and third Thursdays of the month.  This month there’s an extra Thursday – an extra meeting!!  Meetings are in the afternoon and evening – take your pick.  If interested, call the library 609-859-3598.  Miss Marsha or Miss Judy can provide details.

Looking forward to September

The Library’s Annual Local Art Exhibit and Sale will be held Friday, September 21, 5-8pm, and Saturday, September 22, 12pm-5pm.

Toddler Storytime will begin again on Thursday mornings, 11 am.  Children up to 36 months are invited to come listen to stories, sing songs, and play!  If interested, please call 609-859-9002.

Kids, ages 4-up, are invited to come on Thursday, September 13, 2pm, for a story/art project.  (Usually held the third Thursday, this has been moved up a week because of the library art show. )

As with all programs, please call the library for additional information and to let us know if you plan to attend.

August Arts

So far our Thursday  (1 pm – 2 pm) projects have been scratch art bookmarks, foil figures and pictures and watercolors.  Last week’s watercolor florals brought out a crowd of 16 children – Artists ALL!  A few of the paintings were left to display at the library art show in September.

This week (8/23) we’ll be making African Masks.   It should be very interesting to see  their creations.  Children over 5 years of age are welcome.  Please give us a call to let us know you’re coming. (609-859-9002 or 859-3598)

Our Summer Reading Group wrapped up this week.  We had the opportunity to hear a couple of the projects – it sure seems like they’re worthy of an A++!  There are still plenty of Newbery Award winners on the shelf for those getting a late start.

The Stitching with Sally group that meets at the library the first and third Thursday, created a Granny Square Afghan to enter into the Burlington County Farm Fair and took a FIRST PLACE RIBBON!  Great job!  

Today in the Children’s Library we followed up our Fairy Garden with part two: Fairy Pendants.  It was a lot of fun and all the pendants turned out beautifully – and as an added bonus, we painted the backs with glow in the dark paint!

Next week:  Our Wednesday Story Hour and craft with Mrs. Peggy King will be about “FISH”.

Monday we’ll be starting a  Group to discuss assigned Summer Reading projects.  Kids going into 6th, 7th, or 8th grades are welcome to join.

Come join the group!  Maybe find a favorite new author or even a new series! 

This week our craft will be a two day (Tuesday & Thursday) butterfly mobile.  This is a slightly more complicated craft that may require some help.

Backyard Event

Join us on the back lawn of the library,  6:30 pm,  for a concert with April Mae & the June Bugs.

First kids are invited on Thursday afternoon, 2pm – 3pm,  to learn about Roots Music with April Mae.  Then everyone’s invited to bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy the concert at 6:30 pm!

We’ve had a busy week at the library and looking forward to the July 4th holiday!

Last Friday evening we had to take our Backyard event, with Full Effect Productions, indoors but we were rewarded with “Shark Magic” and water ice. Who doesn’t like a good shark show!

It looks like we’ll be checking out a lot of books this summer as twenty four kids showed up to paint canvas book bags with Linda McCardell of the Vincentown Garden Club.  Thanks to the Vincentown Garden Club, Linda, Nancy and all the Moms and Grand-moms who came out to assist with the painting project.

We’re looking forward to a very full schedule in July.  Keeping with this summer’s reading theme, Libraries Rock here is a sampling of the first full week of events:

• we invite kids of all ages to come out to  percussion instruments (7/10)
• be introduced to some  members of the Southampton School band and their musical instruments (7/11)
• learn about Roots Music with April Mae and the June Bugs at an afternoon program (7/12)

The weeks events all lead up to a BIG BACKYARD CONCERT with April Mae and the JuneBugs accompanied by the kids with their newly made percussion instruments! (7/12 6:30 pm)

Looks like our backyard event will be moving indoors… See you at the Old Town Hall!

It looks like the weather is going to cause a change in plans for our annual backyard event.  The Old Town Hall is just around the corner on Plum Street. (Main Street to Church Street, right on Plum Street.)
